Now this is an exciting course. Every shot seems to make you really think. Visually intimidating, but if you face your fears and don’t let it get into your brain it isn’t as bad as it seems. Super tight looking fairways are only that way for 100-200 yards off the tee box, so should be an easy carry to a fairway that usually opens up substantially. The greens are mega-interesting: undulations everywhere, a number of them are completely guarded by sand dunes (most notably the par 5 13th) and one is the narrowest I have ever seen (the 17th). I played well today, had half-a-dozen putts inside 8 feet and missed them all…a lone 12 footer for birdie on 9 was my only putt made. A shank from 115 on the second hole let to my lone double-bogey. But drove the ball great, missed 2 fairways I think.
