Just a fantastic, interesting golf course. Supremely walkable, and friendly to the high-handicapper while providing challenge to the more skilled player. I played the “Number 2” tees, which played to 6500 yards; except for a couple of long par 4s where I still had 200+ yards to go after a great drive most of the course was reasonable, distance-wise. The Donald Ross greens were so refreshing; I honestly didn’t mind when I miseed a green as I was usually afforded an interesting chip where I had to throw it to the top of a mound and let it release down, or other similar navigations of the undulating greens. And not a single hole with a forced carry of a greenside bunker, which is something I truly dislike.

I started with a dreadful double bogey (had a 6Iron in and made a huge mess of it) but played the rest of the way pretty darn well. Chipping and sand play were exceptional, routinely getting me 2 to 4 feet for my par putt. However, I missed 3 or 4 really short putts. I just could not make myself play the required 2 cups of break for a 4 foot putt that I routinely had.

Can’t wait to get back out here and play this again.

Hole Par Score Comments
4 6 Long par 4 to start, good drive leaving 165, nearly missed a 6I into a cross bunker short, flew it over the green, chip to 20 feet, 2 putts
4 4 Neat downhill approach on this short par 4, good drive, 123yds in with a gap wedge, landed left of the pin and 2 putts
4 5 Good drive, pushed a 6Iron from 165 to the right side of the green, left with a long putt, 3 putts
3 3 Hit a weak 7I into the bunker short right of the green, bunker shot to 4 feet, 1 putt
4 5 Drive into the left rough, hit a good 5I into the rough just of the green, flubbed the chip, 2 putts
5 5 Good straight drive but that puts you near the fairway bunkers and the rough, advanced from the rough with a 9I, pulled a 7I left of the green from 165, hit a magnificent flop shot that landed 20 feet past the pin and used a slope to roll down to a foot, 1 putt
4 5 Long par 4, decent drive but still 215 away, hit a low 5W 15 yards short of green, chipped to 4 feet, 2 putts
3 3 Weak 4Hy short and right into greenside bunker, another great bunker shot to 2 feet, 1 putt
4 4 Fun par 4 downhill on the teeshot and uphill on the approach, good drive leaving 127 in, 9I came up just short, 2 putts
4 4 Good drive a foot off the fairway in the left rough, 9I onto the green, 2 putts
4 4 Good drive over the left corner of the rough, decent 9I to the right fringe, good 2 putt
5 5 Straightaway par 5, a classic hogan
4 5 Another long par 4, great drive still with 190yds up the hill, good 4Hy but not quite enough, great lob chip to the top of a slope and it trickles down to 4 feet, missed the putt
3 3 4Hy 190yds onto the green, 2 putt
4 4 Hard dogleg right, got aggressive and hit a push fade into the corner rough, pulled a 6I left of the green leaving a near-impossible putt, ran the first putt 25 feet by, made the comeback!
3 3 Easy 5I past the pin, 2 putts
5 5 Good drive leaving 215yds to the pin, pushed a 5W right of green, great chip to 4 feet, missed the putt
4 4 Hit a low pull hook over the left bunkers but turns out that was the best line, 142yds left with an 8I, land it 15 feet left of pin, 2 putts
